I just have to share some good news. I have secured a vendor for some of the most beautiful linens I have ever seen, and I am bringing them to Paducah!!! I will be posting pictures soon and having a showcase announcement... check back soon for more details!!!

1st Annual Bridal Brunch

April brought more than showers this year. We had a wonderful turnout for our Champagne Social. Brides and guests listened to informative speakers who gave them information about photography, honeymoons, makeup tips and tricks, invitations, decorations, florals, and life coaching. OMG... We made POSH! When the February edition hit news stands it marked the first article published for Occasions Unlimited. We had so much fun creating the Valentine's Day themed table that Posh featured on it's cover. Look for us in the upcoming issue of Paducah Life... another cover shot!!!

Welcome to Blogging

Today the Occasions Unlimited Blog is born. Hi I am Allison Hart and my dream is to become Paducah's Premier Event Planner and for my recently acquired business, Occasions Unlimited, to become Paducah's Premier Event Resource Center.

This journey began as a child in the walk-in cooler of my Mother's flower shop. I have always loved beautiful things like flowers, fabrics, papers, glitter, and sequins. What can I say I am a girly girl, so much so that as a very small child I would fight my Mother and throw a tantrum if I did not get to wear my patton leather shoes to the soft ball field with my cut off blue jean shorts and tank top. If you pay for your raising with your kids... man am I in for it.

My Mother has been my teacher and my best friend from an early age. She has taught me that anything is possible, and together we can accomplish what ever we set out to do. We have so many hobbies in common, and have turned those hobbies into 2 successful businesses. I can't imagine how I could ever do it without her... well I couldn't have to be quite honest. Her name is Cindy Ballard and she is the owner of Simply Unique Catering. I started Simply Unique Consulting about 5 years ago and grew the business to eventually acquire Occasions Unlimited this past July 1st, 2008.

The first skill I remember learning from my Mother, the caterer, was how to cook. I love to cook... it is by far my favorite past time. I have more fun sitting around with my Mom and family on a Sunday afternoon looking for recipes than doing anything else in this world. Of course we always have ideas on how to change them to make them better. She is the best cook in the world... although I am getting pretty good. haha. We are just a little competitive and of course competition makes us both stay at the top of our game.

My Mom is also a great designer! She has taught me how to design flower arrangements, interiors, special events, holiday decor, you name it. Together we have over 35 years of experience in the design industry. I will have to say I am a little better at hanging wall paper... see competitive... I just can't help myself. But to be honest she is a little bit better at floral design, for now. haha.

Ok... I think that gets us started. You know who we are Mom: Cindy Ballard owner of Simply Unique Catering and Daughter: Allison Ballard Hart formerly of Simply Unique Consulting new owner of Occaions Unlimited.

My hope is to begin posting events that we do. Some how we usually end up having a tiny part in almost every special event in this town. Whether we cater, do the flowers, rent some of my equipment, coordinate the event or some other variation.
